I am from South Africa and have been in Ireland since July 2010.I came to Ireland to take up employment as a domestic worker but my long term goal was and still is to pursue further higher education in Youth and Community Work and Development so I can get some skills that my people , my continent and the world can benefit from in developing our own communities and changing the way Africa is perceived by many in developed countries.

It is not an easy journey.I did a childcare course for a year  here in Ireland ,8 months after my arrival  so I could secure work and earn while  trying to save for my dream course in University,trust me, I am thankful at least I have a job but the earnings I make from childminding 3 days a week can never give me 10 000 euro I need for a uni degree,but at least I can survive while my hunt for a scholarship continues !
